| Name: | Saioh Mizuchi (OU) |
|---|
Character: Saioh Mizuchi
Series/Fandom: Yuugiou GX
Original or Alternate: Original
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Undecided (hasn’t gotten intimate enough with others to know)
Appearance: Mizuchi is a little shorter than her brother is, with the same purple eyes and pale skin. She has long, black hair reached down to her back and uses a red string to tie the ends. Her bangs arch up to make two points at the top of her head and sweep back down over her ears to around her collarbone, and another tuft of hair sticks out to her left. Mizuchi traditionally wears red lipstick and earrings (blue balls on hoops), and dresses in sandals and a robe resembling that of priestesses: dark red below the waist and mainly white above, with stitches, lining, and decoration (vertical rectangles on the upper sleeve) in the same dark red. Her sleeves and waist are both tied with the same bow she uses for her hair. When using her powers, her eyes may light up and glow the bright pinkish-violet color that accompanies use of her powers.
Personality: Having been mistreated by just about everybody she and her brother met from a young age, Mizuchi has grown up with no illusions about the meaner side of humanity when it comes to “embracing” differences, and has the cynicism to match that. She prefers not to associate too much with most people, instead sticking to a small group of people she trusts and cares about (namely, two people so far: her brother, Saioh Takuma, and their friend, Edo Phoenix).
Despite her distrust of others, Mizuchi is normally calm and fairly polite, if not distance, to those she meets. She doesn’t take to people very easily, but when she does she cares about them greatly, and she will support them as much as she can. When she is shaken, angry, or has something driving her, she becomes fired up and there is an added fierceness to her that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Mizuchi isn’t overly cruel, but she isn’t overly kind, either; she is capable of ruthlessness when she feels the situation calls for it, and will not hesitate to let that side out.
Abilities/Strengths: Like her brother Takuma, Mizuchi was born with strange powers. Hers seem to be more limited in their variety, instead focusing strongly around mirrors. Along with scrying and divination, using mirrors Mizuchi is able to project images and illusions (which she can also do to a lesser extent with other especially reflective surfaces such as polished metal or water), or take somebody’s soul and place it elsewhere: a card, for example. A pinkish-violet light may accompany these. She has some telekinesis (limited where mirrors aren’t concerned, but very strong where they are) and can also sense spirits and auras, create barriers to keep people and spirits both in or out of a certain area, and endow otherwise ordinary people with certain element-based powers to people such as teleporting from place to place. These gifts, once given, are retractable and she can take the powers away if she wishes to.
Notable Possessions: A Duel Monsters deck, themed around mirrors and the Shikigami monsters. Any mirrors Mizuchi may get her hands on may also be potentially dangerous if she wants to use them.
Weaknesses: Mizuchi’s life has been rather isolated in some respects, which leaves her social skills and knowledge of areas like pop culture to be lacking. Her fighting skills are little better, for all she has other powers, and if things ever came to a purely physical fight Mizuchi would be likely to lose. Her powers aren’t invincible, either, and if the opposing force is strong enough they can be defeated as well. Having been shunned for her powers from a young age, she has also developed a distrust of most people, believing that they too will consider her a freak or worse.
History: Since the two of them were young, Mizuchi and her older brother, Takuma, had displayed signs of magical power. At first they used their powers freely, making few attempts to hide what they were doing. People quickly drew away from them for this, however, and thinking they were freaks their own parents soon cast Takuma and Mizuchi out of their home, not caring whether they lived or died. Both of them were very young at the time, but they had to make do with what they had. Sticking close together, they lived on the streets and moved around, taking shelter wherever they could but inevitably being forced out or turned away whenever somebody found them. Nobody took kindly to their powers, either, and wherever they went people would whisper and gossip and call them freaks. The whole world seemed to be against them, and because of this the two siblings became very close.
As they got older, the Saiohs began using their powers more wisely and to their advantage. They managed to find a place to live and stayed there, avoiding the rest of the world as much as possible until one of Takuma drew “The Devil” for himself in a tarot reading, symbolizing that he would someday succumb to a great temptation and evil. He also drew “The Hierophant,” representing somebody who could one day save him from that. This led them to America, where they met Edo Phoenix, a small boy recently orphaned with the unsolved murder of his father. Takuma explained their situation to Edo, and when Edo promised to help Takuma as the other had for him when his father was murdered, it was the beginning of a friendship especially between the two of them as well as Mizuchi.
Takuma became Edo’s manager as Edo began a promising career of athletics and dueling, and with the aid of his powers he advanced Edo far up in the world. With the money they earned, they bought a mansion near where Edo lived. There, Takuma continued his work and started another, telling fortunes to those who came for them.
One night a mysterious person, trying disguising his identity, came to the mansion and presented Takuma with a Duel Monsters card, asking for any information about it Takuma could give him. Watching the both of them out of the man’s sight, Mizuchi sensed that the card was bad news. Before Takuma could take the card for examination, however, he disappeared suddenly. The man immediately ran off with the card, leaving no clues to what might have happened behind. Frantic, Mizuchi called Edo. When he hung up and never answered her calls she assumed he might be over soon, but even after hours had passed he never came nor called back. Fearful and distraught, Mizuchi debated over what to do and whether or not she could trust anybody to help, when she was brought to Econtra.
